Bio

Welcome to my dinky corner of the internet! Here you may stalk, at your leisure, some of my articles, blogs, team investigations and graduate school work.

Background:

I'm Izzy, a lifelong learner and an on-again-off-again reporter. Most recently I worked as a community storytelling reporter for South Jersey, writing for the Burlington County Times, Cherry Hill Courier-Post and the Vineland Daily Journal.

I have a bachelor's in cultural anthropology and a master's in investigative journalism. I spent two and a half years in the Peace Corps living and working in a mountainous village of West Java, Indonesia. I've reported in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts, Wisconsin and throughout the Southwest.

On the side?

I'm left-handed, musical, usually caffeinated and a huge fan of word puzzles. I'm white and Japanese. I run and play soccer for fun.

Motivation:

I like journalism because I get to look for the answers to interesting (and often urgent) questions by asking people who know or have experienced the answers. I learn things, and with any luck, readers do too.

I'm always trying to be a deeper, better, and more impactful storyteller.

Dream:

To mature into a trustworthy yet bold cultural voice for a wide audience of readers; to write thoughtful, poignant pieces that stick with people; to start dialogues that spur real systemic change born of accountability and empathy.

I'm open to freelance, on-site and hybrid work. Let's connect.
